Local Author and Former Parks Official John B. Marek Featured at HarborHippos Game June 12th

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — The Lake Norman HarborHippos have announced that local author and community fixture John B. Marek will be a featured guest at their upcoming home game on Friday, June 12th.

The HarborHippos will take on the Mid-State Melon Mashers at Huntersville Athletic Park. The evening’s festivities will center around celebrating the vibrant cultural talent thriving in the Lake Norman region.

The main event on the diamond is scheduled to begin with the first pitch at 7:00 PM, but fans will want to arrive early to catch all the pre-game action. Gates at Huntersville Athletic Park will open at 6:00 PM. The featured authors will be set up and available for an exclusive meet-and-greet as soon as the gates open, giving attendees plenty of time to chat, take photos, and get books signed before the game gets underway. In addition to celebrating local literature, it’s also Ladies' Night at the ballpark, featuring special promotions, giveaways, and discounts throughout the evening for women in attendance.

Marek will be joining a stellar lineup of fellow local creators, including: Sara George, Sam Cole Jr., and Angela Glennon. Marek is best known to readers as the author of the popular Owen Sinclair outdoor mystery/thriller series. Set against the rugged backdrop of the North Carolina mountains, the novels have earned a dedicated following for their rich atmosphere and gripping suspense.

For Marek, the night holds special significance. A lifelong baseball enthusiast, his connection to the Huntersville Athletic Park goes back to its very roots. As a former official with the Huntersville Parks and Recreation Commission, Marek was instrumental in supporting and developing the sports complex during the early 2000s.

Come out to support local sports, celebrate regional literature, and grab an autograph from some of Huntersville's finest creators! Tickets are available now through the HarborHippos box office.
