Local author John B. Marek will return to the Hampton B. Allen Library on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for a special book reading, Q&A session, and signing. Marking his first appearance at the Wadesboro library in over three years, Marek will share fresh stories, insights into his writing process, and live readings from his popular Owen Sinclair mystery series.
Set against the rugged backdrops of North Carolina’s state parks and rural communities, Marek’s Owen Sinclair series follows the adventures and investigations of its namesake park ranger. Attendees will get an insider’s look at the inspirations behind the books, hear behind-the-scenes anecdotes, and have the opportunity to ask questions during an interactive Q&A session.
"It’s been more than three years since I last spoke at the Hampton B. Allen Library, and I couldn't be more excited to return," said Marek. "I’ve accumulated a lot of new stories—both on and off the page—since my last visit, and I’m looking forward to catching up with local readers and sharing where Owen Sinclair’s journey is heading next."
Following the presentation and Q&A, Marek will be available to sign copies of his books. Copies will be available for purchase by cash, card, or Venmo at the event.
